Elected in 2019, Devotion Ndlovu is our current director. Hailing from Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, Devotion, or affectionately called "Devo," adds a unique flavour to CHAI. As an immigrant himself, his heart goes out to all immigrants, and he makes it his personal mission to postively impact everyone he connects with.
Our Mission
Creating and Developing Friendships with Newcomers
CHAI exists to create connections, make friends with newcomers, and assist them with the adjustment to life in Canada during the first months and years of settlement. At CHAI, newcomers and established volunteers take the time to get to know each other’s needs and strengths, answer questions, and become friends. This approach seeks to balance the needs of newcomers in settlement with the recognition that newcomers have many gifts to give our volunteers and their communities
Chai is more than just an immigration centre; it is a safe space where people can find lasting friendships, meaningful connections in the city, and of course, Chai tea! From the board of directors to the volunteers, we all share a common passion: to help those around us, and to see our nieghbours prosper!
